Founded in 1990, JSM Protective, Inc. is a woman owned small business that believes in the personal touch. We are able to provide less hassle, more power and better support to you by being with you through every step of the inbound sales and research process. We take care that any product specifications are followed to the letter in our USA-based manufacturing process. Whatever safety equipment needs you have, from custom-fitted personal protective equipment to screenprinted foreign matter exclusion equipment, we have you covered.
Ms. McLean founded JSM Protective, Inc. in 1990. She has shown exemplary dedication, leadership, and excellence in custom product development and customer service in the nuclear and utility industries, due in part to her experience with the U. S. Department of Energy, government contractors, and related facilities. Because of her leadership, JSM Protective, Inc. received the National Women’s Business Enterprise Certification by WBENC in 2012, catapulting the woman owned small business into the future of safety equipment production.
Ms. McLean earned her bachelor’s degree in communications and marketing at UNC-W in 1980. She also attended the University of South Carolina College of Business Administration in 1995 as well as completed “Management and Disposal of Radioactive Waste” from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA, in 1998. She has been an active member of the American Nuclear Society since 1990.
Before founding JSM Protective, Inc., Ms. McLean was a Marketing Director with Duratek, Inc. ( a company involved in radioactive materials disposition services and environmental remediation). Earlier positions include safety and scientific products sales. She has provided scholarships and support on many levels. In addition, she has served on numerous boards, including the alumni board of UNC-W, The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, and various homeowners’ associations. She also completed flight ground school, flew a Beechcraft Model 77 Skipper, performed her solo flight, and acquired 60 hours of flight time by 1987.
Ms.McLean earned recognition for having restored the Historic Zachman Building in Washington, North Carolina, in 1995.
