Jeannette McLean Bio
Ms. McLean founded JSM Protective, Inc. in 1990. She has been recognized for showing exemplary dedication, leadership and excellence in custom product development and customer service in the nuclear and utilities industries, the U. S. Department of Energy, government contractors and related facilities. The company was granted the National Women’s Business Enterprise Certification by WBENC in 2012.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications and marketing at UNC-W in 1980. She also attended the University of South Carolina College of Business Administration in 1995 as well as completing “Management and Disposal of Radioactive Waste” from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA in 1998. She has been an active member of the American Nuclear Society since 1990.
Prior to founding JSM Protective, Inc., Ms. McLean was a Marketing Director with Duratek, Inc. ( a company involved in radioactive materials disposition services and environmental remediation). Earlier positions include safety and scientific products sales. She has provided scholarships and support on many levels. She has served on numerous boards, including the alumni board of (UNC-W), The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra and various home owners’ associations. She also completed flight ground school and flew a Beechcraft Model 77 Skipper, having performed her solo flight and acquiring 60 hours of flight time by 1987. Ms.McLean earned recognition for having restored the Historic Zachman Building in Washington, North Carolina in 1995.
